Tragedy in Valladolid, foreign girl drowns in a hostel

A French family’s vacation turned into a tragedy after a 1-year-old girl drowned after falling into the pool of a hostel in Valladolid.

The accident occurred at noon on Monday, June 17, in a hostel located on 36th Street between 47th and 49th Street in Valladolid’s San Juan neighborhood.

According to official sources, the couple, originally from France, arrived in this city and checked in at the hostel.

At one point the woman went shopping in the city center and left the little girl with the father identified only as I.D. 48-year-old who was inside a room.

The man was sleeping, he did not realize that the door to the room was open, the little girl was crawling, so she left the room and reached the pool where she fell.

When the father woke up, he realized that his daughter was not inside the room and when he came out he found her body floating in the pool.

Then he took her out of the water and took her to a clinic in the same neighborhood, however, the girl no longer had vital signs.

The man returned to the hostel and they reported it to the corresponding authorities. Paramedics arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of the girl. Both parents suffered a nervous breakdown.

Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), experts, and the Forensic Doctor went to the hostel to carry out the legal procedures to take the body for the legal autopsy.

Until Tuesday, June 18, the Prosecutor’s Office did not deliver the body to the parents, because they were carrying out the corresponding procedures to find a way to take the body to its country of origin.
