“Va y Ven” service between Merida Centro and Cholul begins operations

This Friday, June 21, the 10 new hybrid units of Va came into operation and will provide service on the Centro-Cholul route, which during the first week from June 21 to 30 will have no cost for users.

After that first week, the new route will have a social rate for students, older adults, and people with disabilities that will be valid 365 days a year. In addition, this will allow users to access free and discounted transfers in the first 120 minutes of their first trip, interconnecting with any other route of the “Va y Ven” System.

At the start of this route, the Yucatan Transportation Agency (ATY) indicated that by joining the Centro-Cholul to the “Va y Ven”, users will obtain benefits by starting to operate from 6 to 10 units that are now They will be friendly to the environment. It is estimated that this route will transport more than 22 thousand users per week, which will improve the service.

The new hybrid units that will provide service starting today are Yutong brand, they pollute 60 times less than a conventional bus and do not generate noise. In addition, they combine a diesel-electric propulsion system, with a capacity for 70 people, and 30 seats, and are also environmentally friendly, since they produce 400% less CO2 emissions per year, which means the planting of 2,845 trees.

They have air conditioning, USB chargers, screens, and a bicycle rack and are trackable through the Va-y-ven app. To promote universal accessibility, the buses are designed with exclusive spaces for people with disabilities, short stature, and older adults, ramps for wheelchairs, a low floor, and signage in Braille.

The operating hours of the Centro-Cholul route will be from Monday to Sunday from 5 in the morning to 11 at night and its route includes points of interest such as the Mejorada Park, the Great “La Plancha” Park, as well as schools, universities, and shopping centers. Users who use this route will be able to transfer with several routes of the same public transport service.
