A resident of Kanasín, Lorena Ek, was scared on July 20 when she found a boa constrictor on the patio of her house in the Villas de Oriente neighborhood.

According to Lorena, the boa had eaten one of her chickens, which generated concern among neighbors who commented on social networks that the snake looked strange.

Lorena requested help from the Ecological Police, who arrived at the scene approximately an hour later and were responsible for safely removing the boa.

A Kanasín police officer shows the boa found in recent days in that municipality.

The boa constrictor imperator is a common species in the Yucatan Peninsula. It is not unusual in inhabited areas. These snakes are not poisonous to humans, but their large size and strength can cause injury if they feel threatened.

In case of a boa in your home or yard, stay calm and do not approach the animal. Avoid making sudden movements or noises that could scare the snake. Immediately call the ecological police or a professional specialized in capturing reptiles. Do not attempt to capture or handle the snake yourself, as this could put you at risk.
