A woman drugged an elderly adult and tried to steal his money in downtown Mérida this Thursday, July 18, in the afternoon.
The incident, which generated a strong mobilization of emergency forces, occurred at the corner of 59th and 56th Streets.
“I saw the woman call him “dad” while making him inhale something through his nose”, said a witness passing by the area.
Another woman who saw what happened stated that the suspect drugged the man to take his money. Witnesses asked the police for help and Municipal Police officers arrived in a matter of minutes.
The officers searched the woman and found objects that were not hers among her belongings.
The agents detained the woman. Meanwhile, the older adult, lying on the steps of a building, was treated by paramedics from the Municipal Police.
Next to the victim, there was a bottle of water, into which the woman allegedly had put some kind of drug to make him unconscious.
The police officers are carrying out the relevant investigations, and the man must go to the Prosecutor’s Office to file a formal complaint.
