Federal authorities search four properties in Mérida

The Criminal Investigation Agency (ACI) from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) carried out investigations in four properties in Mérida, three bars and a house, to comply with respective search warrants related to an investigation folder for alleged human trafficking.

The operations, in which only federal authorities participated, were carried out simultaneously during the night of Wednesday, July 3, and lasted until dawn and the morning of Thursday, July 4.

Data obtained in this regard indicate that the operations are related to an investigation and have to do with crimes committed against human rights, violence against women, and human trafficking.

Unofficially, in these places, two bars located at kilometer 17 of the Mérida Periférico, one more a few meters from the same road on the Mérida-Motul federal highway, and a house in the Gran San Pedro Cholul neighborhood; the authorities rescued Mexican and foreign women, victims of human trafficking for sexual exploitation.

So far it is unknown if any people were arrested, but the four places were secured so that federal authorities can continue with the investigations.
