The green alert was activated in 9 of the 13 municipalities of Campeche.

The National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) issued this Wednesday, July 3rd, the green alert of “low risk” for nine of the 13 municipalities of Campeche, due to the approach of Hurricane Beryl.

These municipalities are Campeche, Tenabo, Hecelchakán, Dzibalché, Calkiní, Hopelchén, Seybaplaya, Champotón and Calakmul.

While Escárcega, Candelaria, Palizada, and Carmen remain on blue alert of “minimal risk” or “very low”.

The State Civil Protection Secretariat (Seproci) reported that the entry of tropical maritime air from the Caribbean Sea predominates, associated with the advance of tropical wave 7 located over the waters of the Gulf of Honduras, off the coasts of Quintana Roo and Belize.

The tropical wave interacts with a low-pressure channel located over the southern portion of the Gulf of Mexico, in the Bay of Campeche, which will maintain unstable atmospheric conditions as well as the potential for torrential rains throughout the state.
