Dengue Cases in Mexico

January until June 29, 2024: 20,249 cases
January until July 1, 2023: 4,440
States with an increased number of infections

The most affected states from June 16 to 29 of this year are in the southern region of the country, with Oaxaca being the one with the highest number of new cases with 490, in addition to its first death, a 19-year-old girl for this same reason. The Mexican states that follow are Michoacán with 332 infections; Morelos with 312; Guerrero with 283; and Chiapas with 263.

In the north-central part of the country, these are the states with the highest percentage increase, Coahuila went from having no cases to registering 15 in two weeks, and in Guanajuato, cases increased by 314%. The cause, experts say, is the rain, but so is the storage of water that thousands receive by batch or by pipe.
