Chris has now weakened to a tropical depression.
Chris was downgraded to a tropical depression as it advanced over Mexican territory, according to a 06:15 a.m. local time (07:16 a.m. Miami time) update from the National Weather Service.
This tropical depression is located over the municipality of Filomeno Mata, in Veracruz, and originates from torrential to heavy rains in eastern and central areas of the country.
“Electrical discharges may accompany the rains; they could also cause an increase in the levels of rivers and streams, landslides, puddles, and flooding in low-lying areas of these regions,” says the SMN.
