IMSS carries out preventive actions for possible impact of Hurricane Beryl on the coast of Quintana Roo

On Sunday, June 30, the Conagua National Meteorological Service reported on the intensification of Hurricane Beryl to category 4 on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

It is currently located more than 3,000 km east of the coast of Quintana Roo and continues to move westward. The system remains under surveillance, because it is expected to head to Mexican territory next week. Its effects will probably begin to be felt on the coasts of Quintana Roo on July 5.

The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), as a member of the National Emergency Committee, maintains close communication with the National Civil Protection System, for the reception and transmission of bulletins from the Tropical Cyclone Early Warning System (SIAT-CT), an information mechanism. and coordination to generate an organized response to the threat that a tropical cyclone constitutes.

In this sense, preventive and preparation actions are carried out for the possible impact of the tropical cyclone, among them, the activation of the 2,280 internal civil protection units in the IMSS buildings, so that they can hold meetings and inform the workers in an organized manner. , about the tropical cyclone path and the actions they must take to safeguard life, property and the environment.

In the month of May, preventive work began on tree pruning, review of electrical wiring, cleaning of roofs, downspouts and drains, identification and monitoring of evacuation routes, practice of drills, surveillance of bodies of water and concentration of security personnel.

Through the Virtual Center for Emergencies and Disasters (CVOED) and the Technical Coordination of Civil Protection, coordinated work is maintained with the medical area to guarantee the continuity of operations in safe conditions, so the population can continue to receive medical service regularly.
