In the early hours of Saturday, July 27th, a bloody incident occurred a few meters from the Main Square of Merida.

One subject attacked another with a machete, leaving him seriously injured, inside the Emilio Seijo passage, which is halfway between 63rd and 65th Street, at the intersection of 58th and 60th Streets.

The reason for the terrible attack is unknown. It is only known that two men were involved in an argument, and suddenly one of them took out a machete with which he slashed his opponent several times.

Other pedestrians observed everything, alerting agents of the Municipal Police of Merida, who took charge of this case and asked for paramedics to attend to the injured man, who was taken by ambulance to a hospital with serious injuries.

It is not known if the attacker was arrested. Almost 12 hours after this incident occurred, the Municipal Police of Mérida has not reported anything officially, even though it was a serious case of insecurity near the Plaza.
