SEDENA reports that the Maya Train has transported more than 246,000 passengers since its inauguration

On Monday, July 15, during the usual morning press conference of the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the general director of the Mayan Train, Óscar David Lozano assured that this means mobilized more than 246,000 passengers in 205 days of operations.

“To date, the Maya Train has managed to mobilize almost a quarter of a million people since December 16 when we began operations (…) In a comparison it would be like 2.6 times the Azteca Stadium, we would fill it with the passengers we have transported in this period,” said the official.

Lozano pointed out that until July 11, the Mayan Train has operated for 205 days, in which it has moved 246,926 people, and only from January 1 to date it has transported 43,065 users, of which 1,808 have been international passengers, 17,214 national, 15,988 local and 8,055 special.

“This reflects the interest and usefulness that this means of transportation has in the southeastern region of the country”, he SEDENA official said.

He recalled that section 1 of the Mayan Train has two services a day from Cancún to Palenque and from Palenque to Cancún.

López Obrador pointed out that getting on the Mayan Train and traveling its route is as if one were in an “earthly paradise” that is not found anywhere in the world.

President López Obrador’s flagship project includes 1,554 kilometers with seven sections that cross five states and 36 municipalities and has a total of 34 stations.
