Mérida Municipal Police deploys public security and road safety operation

The Municipal Police of Mérida deployed a public security and road safety device during the Summer holiday period, to guarantee the safety of families and visitors who come to the historic center.

380 police officers participate in this operation and will maintain special surveillance until August 25, providing emergency services, guidance, and support to citizens.

Because an increase in vehicle capacity is expected, the corporation will implement road operations to reduce the effects on those traveling through the streets of the first square of the city.

Personnel from the areas of Citizen Security, Road Traffic, Paramedics, the Animal Protection Unit, Traffic Experts, Road Engineering, the Canine (K-9) Unit, and Tourist Police will participate in the holiday operation, divided into several shifts with 24-hour coverage.

Given the influx of users of foreign transport lines, municipal police will increase the routes at the Noreste, CAME, TAME, Autoprogreso, and Combi bus terminals to the coastal municipalities.

Surveillance in the residential area of ​​the sector of the jurisdiction of the Municipal Police of Mérida will be reinforced through constant patrols of the operational units, to prevent home robberies.

To prevent traffic accidents, there will also be breathalyzer operations in different parts of the historic center, to provide greater safety to pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Finally, the K-9 Unit will carry out different operations to prevent criminal actions and will reinforce patrols and checkpoints in different parts of the city.
