Six months after its opening, the Museum of Light in Mérida has received the visit of approximately 27 thousand people, about 50 percent are families and 42 percent are high school students, up to higher academic levels, said its director, Ricardo Rubiales García Jurado.
The Museum Director specified that the museum, which belongs to the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), opened its doors on November 1, 2023, and since then has hosted the color exhibition, “The Knowledge of the Invisible,” an international exhibition that has visited six important cities in Latin America and closes its trip in Mérida.
“It is an exhibition that accompanies us during this first period, and then we will have another series of exhibitions, in this one we wanted to address the issues of the color phenomenon from a scientific perspective, but from sociocultural perspectives, the production of pigments and even technological development and even art,” Ricardo Rubiales noted.
This site is located on the corner of 50th and 43rd Streets in the Great Park of “La Plancha”, it is open to the public from 9 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon and from 4 in the afternoon to 8 at night, from Tuesday to Sunday.
It should be noted that Mérida is distinguished for being a city that is constantly evolving and improving; in recent years it has become one of the main points in the country in offering a wide range of cultural, technological, and entertainment, which can be observed in its growing range of museums and spaces dedicated to sharing knowledge.
The Museum of Light is a space where science and technology converge, providing knowledge and recreation to its visitors. It specializes in the luminous phenomenon but is seen from different angles, in a playful and didactic way.
