In an event held at the Autonomous University of Yucatán, the book “New Minimum History of Mexico” was presented, and translated into several indigenous languages, a project resulting from a collaborative effort between El Colegio de México (Colmex), the Ministry of Education Public (SEP) and various intercultural universities.
This book marks a milestone in the dissemination and accessibility of historical and cultural knowledge in Mexico.
The event that took place on Tuesday, July 2nd, at the University Council of the Central Administration, was attended by several academic and government personalities, among them the Master of Science, Carlos Alberto Estrada Pinto, rector of the Autonomous University of Yucatán and Silvia Elena Giorguli Saucedo, president of the College of Mexico, among others.
The literary work was presented by teacher Gabriela Zay Reyes, director of publications at the Colegio de México and moderator of the event, together with Pablo Yankelevich Rosembuam, director of the Center for Historical Studies and the Minimum Stories of Mexico collection at the Colegio de México.
The translators of the book in the Mayan language are Gladys Sánchez Chan and Wilbernaín Villegas Carrillo, both from Yucatán, who were also recognized for their valuable contributions.
