Religious activities take place at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Carmen of Chetumal began the traditional festivities in honor of the Virgin of Mount Carmel last Sunday, with the performance of the novena, the recitation of the rosary, and the Eucharistic ceremony, offered in thanksgiving for the departure of the Hurricane “Beryl”.

On the first day of the festivities in honor of the Virgin of Mount Carmel, the children came to thank the Virgin, and the scapular of the Virgin of Mount Carmel was imposed on them.

Priest David Martín Leal, parish priest of the Guadalupano Sanctuary, reported that religious activities are carried out at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Guadalupe (Iglesia la Guadalupana), in the state capital, located on Francisco I. Madero Avenue; Rosaries are held at 6:00 p.m. from July 7 to 16, and masses at 7:00 p.m.

He indicated that every year parishioners venerate the image of the Virgin of Carmen, patron saint of fishermen and the sea; On this occasion the festivities take place in the Marian sanctuary of the state capital.

“Today we thank God, and the Virgin of Carmen, patron saint of the sea, because he has listened to everyone’s requests so that the hurricane does not impact our capital,” said the priest.
