A little more than a month after dock six of the Yucatán Container Terminal (TCY) was out of service due to damage to the structure and the ships were diverted to Veracruz, the Administration of the National Port System of Progreso (Asipona) enabled the Dock seven for loading and unloading containers.
Asipona, in coordination with the TCY, reported that dock seven, which is the Multiple Use Terminal (TUM), where ships transporting general cargo and tankers for Hidrosur dock, has a new position for unloading container cargo.
This authorization was carried out under the current operating rules and availability of Pier Seven, as part of the results obtained in the technical and operational evaluations.
It was specified that operations would continue at the three docks of the terminal.
Pier Seven will continue to operate the usual loads, incorporating vessels that transport containers into the schedule.
Pier six will operate under the required conditions that seek to safeguard safety.
Maintenance work will be carried out during the operational windows.
Pier five can operate vessels up to 215 meters in length and a draft of -7 meters.
Asipona reported that the coordination of the operation is possible thanks to the work of the port authorities and the TCY, to minimize the effects on operations and clients and promote port development.
During the maintenance of pier six, which will be carried out from June 17 to December 17 of this year, the work will be coordinated, ensuring that they are done during the available windows of the pier.
It should be noted that TCY continues to operate at Pier Five, receiving vessels with a length of 200 meters and a maximum draft of up to 7 meters.
