In the first two weeks of the summer vacation period, the Yucatan delegation of the National Chamber of Commerce in Small (Canacope) reported an increase of between 10% and 15% percent in sales of affiliated businesses, mainly those located in the city of Mérida and on the coast, where the most popular items have been soft drinks, snacks, ice, and sweets.

The president of the group, María Trinidad Guerrero Jiménez, reported that, although during the first days of vacation, the commercial movement started a little slowly in the sector, at the end of the second week of this vacation, more people are looking for some products.

He pointed out that the increase in sales is because the vast majority of children, adolescents, and young people stay at home more, and that causes visits to small businesses and corner stores to be a little busier, mainly in the city and on the beaches, where families mostly gather between July and August.
