The “Taquero Festival” has already become emblematic in Chetumal, the capital of the state of Quintana Roo, which contributes to strengthening tourism and local economic reactivation.

Among the activities carried out on these two days is the contest Who eats the most tacos?, which will be held in the women’s and men’s categories, and will distribute cash prizes to the first place in each category.

The main requirement is to have a stomach of steel and there will be a single elimination round in which a plate with 20 tacos will be provided to each participant and the first one to finish eating the tacos will be the winner.

Participants, if they eat less than 10 tacos, will have to pay for the tacos they ate.

In previous editions of the “Festival del Taquero” more than 25 Taqueros and taquerias have participated, and in this 2024 edition, attendees will be able to enjoy a wide variety of tacos, including Poc Chuc, Cochinita, pig, al pastor, roast, chorizo, basket, Suadero, beef head, tripe, udder, beef and pork and a greater variety and proposals of traditional tacos from the center and north of the country.

Initially, the sixth “Festival del Taquero” was scheduled for June 29 and 30, but was rescheduled due to the contingency due to the passage of Hurricane “Beryl” through Quintana Roo.
