The students Blanca Noemí López Balam and Cristian Danilú Vera Chi, originally from the port of Chelem, Municipality of Progreso, were recognized for obtaining the best averages of the 28 Yucatán High School campuses located in 20 municipalities of the state.

At the Graduation Ceremony, held at the facilities of the “Venustiano Carranza” Secondary School, the effort and dedication of the graduates of the first generation of Yucatán High School was highlighted, distinguishing López Balam and Vera Chí as students of academic excellence, with an average grade of 96.

The Chelem campus of Yucatán High School attended 46 young people and adults from the port in the first year, standing out for having obtained the highest number of graduates in this first generation, as a result of the high demand for this new educational offer.

Blanca Noemí López Balam shared her experience as part of the first generation of the school recently installed in the port and recounted how this opportunity has been beneficial for both her and her family. Even before enrolling at Bachillerato Yucatán, she traveled to Chuburná every day, spending an average of 100 pesos a day.

“Without a doubt, it benefited me a lot that they opened a school near my house. Now I feel safer by not having to travel. In addition, I love the educational model, which focuses on various areas such as technology, English classes, and entrepreneurship. This is a great educational opportunity that many more young people and adults should take advantage of,” said López Balam.

For her part, Vera Chi highlighted the advantages of the educational scheme offered by Bachillerato Yucatán, as it allowed her to optimize her time and dedicate more hours to studying, in addition to the unconditional support of her teachers, which allowed her to significantly improve her educational quality by making the most of the learning obtained to achieve the best academic average of the program.

“It is a great opportunity to continue or start studying high school near your community. This program allows you to fulfill your dreams and academic goals, not only for young people but also for adults,” added Vera Chi.

For her part, the school coordinator, Vanessa Pech Muñoz, congratulated the graduates who completed an important stage in their education, highlighting the pride they must feel for being part of the first generation of Bachillerato Yucatán. Pech Muñoz highlighted the significant impact of the opening of the Chelem campus, due to the high demand of young people and adults who seek to fulfill the dream of continuing to improve themselves. In this sense, she reported that for the next school year, the enrollment of students will reach 70 students, of which 30 will be new students.

Bachillerato Yucatán, run by the State Government’s Education Secretariat (Segey), began operations last September with 28 schools set up primarily in localities or police stations in 20 municipalities, with the vision of benefiting young people and adults to continue their academic training at the High School level without having to travel long distances and with a curriculum in line with the dynamics of the communities.
