Federal and state forces carried out a joint operation in Valladolid that resulted in the seizure of a firearm, cartridges for exclusive use by the Army and police, as well as more than 9 kilograms of cocaine and other synthetic drugs.
According to a statement, the operation is part of the permanent fight against drug dealing in Yucatán, and it is a result of complaints to the Public Ministry and anonymous ones. It also derives from previous investigations in which authorities arrested more than 11 people and obtained evidence to integrate new files against alleged perpetrators.
On Tuesday, July 16, the police intervened in five properties simultaneously, one set up as a bar in the San Isidro II, Jardines de San Francisco neighborhoods, and the Bacalar and Las Esmeraldas neighborhoods.
Police officers seized various types of drugs, including more than nine kilograms of cocaine. Agents from the Army, Navy, National Guard, State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), and the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) participated jointly and in coordination with agents from the State Investigative Police (PEI) and the Canine Unit.
