Yucatan registers 2,801 calls for violence against women in 5 months

According to figures from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, from January to May of this year in Yucatán, 2,801 telephone calls to the 911 emergency number were made for cases of violence against women, in different modalities.

The previous data show that in Yucatán, an average of 18.4 calls were made to the emergency number, from women in danger due to various situations of violence in its different modalities, such as family violence, intimate partner violence, harassment, or sexual abuse.

In the aforementioned period, a total of 674 calls to the emergency number due to incidents of violence against women were recorded. In this area, the entity occupies 24th place out of the 32 entities in the country with a rate of 53.5 per 100 thousand women.

Yucatán is below the national rate in this indicator, which is 207.8 per 100 thousand inhabitants.

It also accumulates 970 calls to 911 for cases of intimate partner violence, ranking 28th in this area with a rate of 39.1. The national rate is 84.7.

In the registered cases of calls for family violence, the number is 1,033 cases and ranks 31st of the 32 entities in Mexico, with a rate of 41.6 per 100,000 women which is well below the national rate that It is 184.
