The Government of Yucatán reported that the remodeling project of the Plaza Grande includes the planting of 80 new trees, in addition to the creation of more areas with vegetation, which will double the number of specimens it had before.
The state government specified that the Plaza Grande had 41 trees, plus vegetation such as palm trees, of which the replacement of some of the trees was contemplated because they were sick, dry, and at risk of falling, representing a danger. for the passer-by, so the planting of 80 new trees will be carried out.
In addition, the State Government intends to plant 150 trees of the maculís species in the Tourist and Gastronomic Corridor on 60th Street, in the Historic Center, a process that is carried out gradually, to arborize this area of the city.
For this stage of arborization, personnel from the Secretariat of Sustainable Development (SDS) supervised the planting of the Maculis specimens in pots previously conditioned with a suitable substrate and once placed the plants were covered with extra soil and watered regularly so the trees could grow strong and tall.
