With the endorsement of 60 local chefs, Yucatán claimed its right to be part of the Michelin Guide for having a gastronomy worthy of that recognition.
The state secretary of Tourism Promotion of Yucatán, Michelle Fridman Hirsch, presented a document to the publication headquarters to request verification.
Since the possibility for the Michelin Guide to reach Mexico emerged, Yucatán was one of the first destinations to raise its hand, offering the conditions to appear in that selection, she explained.
The official celebrated the arrival of this prestigious guide with its first edition in Mexico and the selection they made in extraordinary gastronomic destinations in Mexico.
We insist that the Michelin Guide in Mexico would not be complete without the gastronomic wealth of Yucatan and other states and Mexican chefs who do not yet appear in the project, she explained.
Michelle Fridman invited the directors of the guide to get to know Yucatan and see why it is a gastronomic tourist destination that is among the most complete and authentic in the world. In addition, Fridman Hirsch delivered a copy of the book “365 Flavors of Yucatán” and endorsed the willingness and commitment of the sector to provide the conditions so that recognition for Yucatán in the Michelin Guide can come in the future.
