Residents of Hoctún reported the poisoning of at least six stray dogs. They have already identified the person responsible, a man who offered food to his victims.
The residents of this town indicated that it is an individual who poisons dogs on board a bicycle in different areas in town.
They point out that this man stops near the canines, takes something out of a bundle, presumably food, and offers it to the animals. Minutes later, the dogs begin to convulse and are finally found dead in the public street.
“We have identified the alleged perpetrator. We ask the townspeople to take good care of their animals from people like this man. Responds to the name of R. E. P. Take good care of your animals from people like this guy. “They wiped out an entire herd little by little,” said Francisco Asis, a resident of Hoctún, on social media.
Regarding this cruelty against animals, the Red Animal Yucatán association has spoken out strongly, regretting the events in Hoctún.
It is not the first time that these acts have happened in Hoctún, since in October 2023, a taco vendor threw boiling oil at a stray dog. In November of that same year, a man identified as “El Porro” shot a dog named “Vaquita” when a 10-year-old girl was with the pet.
