During the early hours of Thursday, August 15, a fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a compact car was reported on the route that connects Gas Auto with the junction to the Cancun – Merida highway.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 in the morning and was reported through several calls to the 911 emergency number.

According to initial reports, the accident occurred when the victim, who had just left the Union mini-supermarket, boarded his motorcycle. Witnesses indicated that the man drove recklessly, improperly entering the road; at that moment, he was hit by a private white car.

The impact was devastating, causing the amputation of part of the motorcyclist’s right leg below the knee. The victim, who was not wearing a helmet, also suffered head trauma. Due to the severity of his injuries and excessive blood loss, the motorcyclist died on the spot.

Paramedics who arrived at the scene confirmed the absence of vital signs and notified the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo). The body of the deceased was taken to the morgue, where the necessary procedures were carried out before being handed over to his relatives for funeral rites.

This tragic accident underlines the importance of respecting traffic regulations and using the appropriate safety equipment to prevent fatal incidents on the roads.
