Employees of the Federal Judicial Branch in Yucatan, accompanied by members of other civil organizations, marched on Paseo de Montejo against the proposal to remove the ministers of the Supreme Court, magistrates, and judges.
A reform to the justice system in Mexico is very necessary, but not the so-called Judicial Reform, which includes a proposal to remove the ministers of the Supreme Court, all the magistrates and judges of the country, federal and local, employees of the Federal Judicial Branch (PJF) said in the march that took place this Sunday, accompanied by various civil organizations of the entity.
On Sunday, August 25, at 10 in the morning, those who would participate in the march began to arrive at the end of Paseo de Montejo as a measure to express their rejection of the reform of the Judicial Branch proposed by the Federal Government, so that half an hour later the contingent left for the Monument to the Fatherland with banners against this measure that they intend to impose.
The secretary of the Federal Judicial Branch (PJF), Edgar Abimael Cimé Gómez, explained that this reform, in addition to seeking the dismissal of the workers of this independent body, proposes that the positions be appointed through popular vote, changes that will not strengthen the administration of justice in the national territory and seek to subject the Judicial Branch of the Federation to the whims of the President.
“We are here to openly denounce these lies and to tell Mexico that above all, we, who make up the Judicial Branch of the Federation, are willing to fight with everything to defend it from totalitarianism, from tyranny, from the abuse of power because we are the guardians of the Constitution, the Constitution protects your rights and we protect the Constitution,” said Cimé Gómez.
