Fonatur will expropriate 35 hectares in Campeche for the Mayan Train project

“Through a publication in the Official Gazette of the Federation, the Federal Government reported that Fonatur will expropriate 37 hectares in Campeche for works on the Tren Maya,”

In the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), a presidential decree was published in which they reported the expropriation of 35 hectares of the municipality of Candelaria in Campeche, this in favor of Fonatur for the works of the Tren Maya, S.A de CV.

The 35 hectares are part of the 57 hectares of different municipalities of Quintana Roo, Campeche and Tabasco that have been expropriated for the Tren Maya project.

The document is made up of four decrees issued by the Government of Mexico, through the Official Gazette of the Federation, on Friday, August 16, 2024.

A surface area covering more than 35 hectares of common use of different ejidos in the region is expropriated for reasons of public utility.

The decree details that four hectares are for parcel use and 30 are for common use of the same ejido, in addition to the fact that this expropriation is intended for the benefit of the construction works of railway infrastructure, belonging to the Maya Train Project and its complementary works in the regions of Tabasco, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.

It is worth mentioning that the compensation is for 32.9 million pesos, an amount that was evaluated by the Institute of Administration and Appraisal of National Assets; And although the amount has already been established, it will not be until Fonatur makes the payment that the execution of the land will take place.
