Authorities rescue foreign and Mexican women in a bar in Playa del Carmen; They save them from sexual exploitation.

A group of women were rescued in a bar in Playa del Carmen, all of them victims of the crime of human trafficking in the form of sexual exploitation or prostitution of others, including foreigners and Mexicans, reported the State Attorney General Office (FGE) in Quintana Roo.

In a statement, the agency announced that Federal forces carried out an operation and managed to rescue 18 victims, forced to offer sexual services to the bar customers.

The pimps who operated the business earned between $1,500 and 2,000 pesos, reports the FGE.

They promised the foreign victims to regularize their immigration status, so they forced them to continue in that place. The criminals threatened the women with reporting their illegal stay in the country.

After executing the search warrant at the establishment, the authorities rescued nine Mexican women, seven Colombians, and two Argentines.

The FGE indicated that, during the operation, the participating police officers managed to capture Juan Carlos N and Julio Matías N, both Mexican and in charge of the victims at that time.
