A young motorcyclist died last night after an accident on the road that connects Izamal with the Citilcum police station. He was identified as Gael Y U., 22 years old.
According to the information obtained, the young man finished his work as a collector in Izamal and began the journey on his motorcycle to Kiní, a rural community in the municipality of Motul, but when he was close to Citilcum he lost control of the handlebars, presumably due to the wet pavement and the heavy rain that was falling at that moment.
The motorcyclist crashed at full speed against a light post ending up in the pavement and no longer showing signs of life.
Motorists who were passing by saw the young man lying on the asphalt, so they called the emergency services at 9-1-1.
Paramedics and municipal police officers from Izamal arrived at the scene, confirming that the young man had already died.
The body was covered with a blue sheet and the presence of the State Attorney General’s Office and the Semefo was requested.
The area was cordoned off for the corresponding work of removing the body.
