The new Auditing Department will be responsible for overseeing finances, conducting internal audits, and handling documentation related to the project.
The controversial Tren Maya project is nearing completion, as President Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced that five southern states’ sections of the train will open in September this year. To continue with administrative advancements, the Secretariat of Public Function created its own auditing unit to monitor expenses for the project.
The agreement was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) and establishes the creation of a Specific Internal Control Body within the State-owned Majority Participation Company Tren Maya, S.A. de C.V.
The offices of the auditing unit will be located in Mérida, Yucatán, at 27th Street #21, Edificio A first level, in the Cordemex neighborhood.
This new unit will be responsible for conducting internal audits, developing and improving public management, handling complaints or denunciations related to the project, as well as investigations and responsibilities. It will also have powers in matters of fiscalization, internal control, evaluation of public management, and administrative responsibilities related to Tren Maya.
In addition during August this year, the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) launched over 400 job vacancies in Quintana Roo, Yucatán, Campeche, Chiapas, and Tabasco.
The positions are operational and administrative, ranging from financial control and archives generated by the train to maintenance of wagons and tracks, client attention, and ticket sales at all project stations.
These contracts remain active until August 30th at 1 pm and are available for individuals with high school education and professional level studies. Salaries are variable depending on the type of function performed within Tren Maya, ranging from MXN 8,200 to MXN 10,275 for positions with medium-superior education, while executive salaries range from MXN 11,320 to MXN 34,845 monthly.
