Tropical Wave 17 brings rain to the Yucatan Peninsula

A trough over the Peninsula and the advance of tropical wave number 17 to the south of the region will cause the possibility of showers with thunderstorms in specific points of Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo, according to the Regional Hydrometeorological Center of Merida.

A hot to very hot environment is also expected during the afternoons and warm at night. The winds will be from the east-southeast, occasionally changing to the northeast, with speeds of 15 to 25 kilometers per hour and gusts of 35 to 40 kph.

This Tuesday, a trough in the Peninsula and the arrival of tropical wave 17 will generate the possibility of showers with thunderstorms in the north, center and northwest of Yucatan, as well as in the north and south of Quintana Roo and Campeche. Temperatures will remain very hot during the day and warm at night, with winds from the east-southeast changing to the northeast, with gusts that could exceed 40 kph on the coast.

Tomorrow, tropical wave 17 will continue its passage through the south of the Peninsula, maintaining the probability of showers with storms in the south and center of Campeche, the south, center and northwest of Yucatan, and the north and south of Quintana Roo. The winds will be from the east-southeast, changing to the northeast, with gusts of more than 35 kph on the coast, and the environment will continue to be very hot during the day and warm at night.

On Thursday, August 22nd, the entry of tropical maritime air and a trough in the region will maintain the possibility of showers and storms in the north and south of Quintana Roo, as well as in the center and south of Campeche, and in the south, center and northwest of Yucatan. Winds will continue from the east-southeast, changing to the northeast, with gusts exceeding 35 kph on the coast, while temperatures will remain very hot during the day and warm at night.
