The first edition of The World’s 50 Best Hotels happened recently in London. These hotels were selected by experts in the field, from hoteliers, journalists, and expert travelers. According to the list, the best hotel in the world is the Passalacqua in Italy. The excellent news is that three Mexican hotels entered the list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels.

The Mexican hotels on The World’s 50 Best Hotels list are in the Riviera Nayarit, near Tulum in Quintana Roo, and Chocholá, Yucatán. All three offer wellness experiences, contact with nature, and exceptional gastronomy.

One of the Mexican hotels that entered the list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels is One & Only Mandarina, ranked eighth. It is a luxury resort on an emerald-green cliff between the rainforest and the sea. Due to its location, the first thing this hotel offers you is privacy. The abundant nature that protects it is a refuge that helps you disconnect from the world and its usual stress.

The exclusive Hotel Chablé combines modern architecture with vestiges of the colonial style in Yucatán.

The second of the Mexican hotels that entered the list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels is Chablé Yucatán, placed 13th. This hotel offers casitas and villas that reflect both elegance and well-being. At Chablé Yucatán, they integrate vegetation as part of their facilities. For children, they have an area designed by architect José Lombada, inspired by the deity K’uk’ulkan. Thus, children will run through mazes while learning about local mythology.

Because it is in Yucatán, they have designed their experiences based on the wisdom of the Mayan culture, particularly in the gastronomic, well-being, and leisure experiences.

Their spa goes far beyond the usual relaxing therapies because it is next to a cenote, always synonymous with natural beauty and relaxation. The treatments provided at the spa fuse modern wellness methods with therapies performed by original healers.

The hotel restaurant’s name is Ixi’im, which means corn in Mayan. The renowned chef Jorge Vallejo and the resident chef Luis Ronzón are the authors of the culinary proposal. The creations of both chefs resulted in a contemporary Mexican menu with accents of traditional Yucatan flavors.

The Hotel Esencia, between Tulum and Playa del Carmen, is nestled deep in the Mayan jungle.

The third of the Mexican hotels that entered the list of The World’s 50 Best, located in 19th place, is the Hotel Esencia. You will find it between Tulum and Playa del Carmen in the Riviera Maya.

All rooms are suites with private terraces, sitting areas, and views of the tropical gardens or the Caribbean Sea. The hotel’s gastronomy is one of the reasons why Hotel Esencia is part of the list of The World’s 50 Best Hotels. In its menu, you will find dishes that find the point where simplicity and sophistication converge.

At the Taiyo Restaurant, they serve Japanese food with a Mexican touch. They highly recommend the Omakase experience, in which the chef prepares a 15-course meal right in front of you based on fresh ingredients of the day and his suggestions.

The wellness center of the Esencia Hotel overlooks the property’s cenote. Its palapa roofs will welcome you in a fresh and traditional atmosphere. In the same way, the treatments integrate ancestral practices to cultivate beauty, balance, and peace. Esencia Spa begins in a Mayan kitchen where therapists create restorative programs tailored to guests. A visit to this spa opens the doors to a healthy mind and body.
