President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said he was “happy” and “calm” after the House of Representatives approved the reform to the National Guard so that it would be transferred to the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena).
In his morning press conference this Friday, September 20, at the National Palace, López Obrador indicated that this approval will mean all the effort made to create the National Guard.
“I am very happy and also calm because approving the reform so that the National Guard depends on the Ministry of National Defense will give meaning to all the effort we have made to create the National Guard, which has meant creating an institution that already has the support of the majority of the people in five years,” said AMLO.
Lopez Obrador expressed that he hopes he will have time to sign it before his term in the Presidency ends.
