Arrested for trying to steal cables from the Tren Maya in Umán

On Monday, September 16, police officers arrested a man who was allegedly trying to remove wires from an electrical manhole near the Ticimul bridge, part of the Tren Maya project.

The incident happened on the Tren Maya section near the Ticimul bridge. An engineer told the agents of the Municipal Police of Umán that they saw a man in a manhole.

As they approached, they realized that the register was open. When the thief was discovered, he tried to flee, however, he was ultimately restrained by Police officers.

After that, they notified the state public security authorities, who upon arrival found the accused with cutting shears, a machete, tools, and a hand lamp. The man, identified as S.A.V.H. “Haragán”, 26 years old, from the Hunxectamán police station, was arrested. His tools and a bicycle were kept in custody.
