Javier Olvera, president of the Caribbean Business Coordinating Council, praises the need for investments with a legal basis to renew the destination.

The new board of directors of the Caribbean Business Coordinating Council (CCE), now headed by Javier Carlos Olvera Silveira, said that the commercial and residential project at the Pok Ta Pok golf course in the hotel zone of Cancun should not be ruled out, since the pros and cons, environmental regulations and land use capacities must first be analyzed and a discussion must be held.

He commented that he does not know if all the businessmen disagree with the project.

He recalled that this has happened in other destinations such as Miami or Madrid, where a different land use was given, it was adequately equipped with infrastructure and mobility, and something new and attractive emerged.

«Right here in Cancun, we have done interesting things, for example, what is happening on Nader Avenue, where a new density was given and we are beginning to see new buildings today, which are renovating an area that was already very old.»

Eduardo Domínguez, outgoing president of the CCE, commented that there are many studies, but we must wait until the Nichupté bridge is finished to see the flow it receives, since today no one has that answer yet.

This will serve to know how much vehicular traffic can be relieved in the hotel zone, and to provide greater capacity; for a development such as the one that is intended to be carried out on the golf course.

He indicated that, as a person from the construction sector, the project is not yet clear and does not have permits.

Finally, Eduardo Domínguez said he was satisfied with the work he carried out during two periods in charge of the business council, by integrating nine large companies, reducing operating expenses by 10%, but especially having achieved a synergy, with the three levels of government and society in general.
