Preserving the traditions that give us identity and bringing them to every corner of Mérida and its communities will be the hallmark of this new edition of the “Festival de las Ánimas 2024” which includes a wide range of more than 30 shows, reported Municipal President Cecilia Patrón Laviada.
As part of the traditional celebration of Hanal Pixán in the Yucatecan capital, the Mayor announced the official schedule of activities that the Mérida City Council will carry out from October 26 to November 3.
During the presentation to the media at the General Cemetery, Cecilia Patrón highlighted the importance of strengthening the identity as Merida residents through our culture and traditions, bringing this important festivity to every corner of the city for locals and visitors.
“This is one of the most important activities we have in our city, in which we are one Mérida, in which together we share the joy of living each activity, in every corner and public space of our city.”
Among the main activities are the Pixán Paalal Marches in the Vergel III, Cordemex, and Juan Pablo II colonies; Nights and Walks of Souls in Xcunyá, Cholul, Caucel, the Bix de Ánimas in Molas, and the Mysterious Path of the Souls from Xcunyá to Misnébalam.
The celebration will be crowned by the Walk of Souls which will take place on October 31, starting from the General Cemetery to the San Juan arch, passing through the traditional magical neighborhood of La Ermita, which is expected to be attended by more than 70 thousand people.
That same day there will be a wide range of cultural and regional comedy shows, which will be simultaneous in different venues.
