A horse died after suffering multiple goring wounds during the “promises tournament” that was held in honor of the Virgin of the Nativity, in the community of Cansahcab, Yucatan.
Although the so-called -lasso– tournaments are prohibited in the State, in several municipalities this practice continues, changing the name of these events to “promises tournament”, or something like that.
Last Monday, September 9th, during the bullfight, an attack on a horse was reported when a show was taking place in this municipality.
The horse died after suffering multiple goring wounds from a bull that caused its viscera to fall off.
Another case occurred in the community of Sucilá, where it was reported that a cowboy identified as Leonardo Pech, originally from Conkal, was injured after his horse was attacked by a bull that left him with serious injuries.
The cowboy had to be rescued in the ring by his companions and later taken to a hospital by paramedics who arrived in an ambulance.
During all tournaments, the organizers ask attendees not to broadcast live, not to record, and not to distribute photographic material on social networks.
