Fumigation work against the mosquito that transmits dengue, Zika, and chikungunya will continue during the week of September 17-20 in Merida and municipalities in the interior of the state to continue contributing to protecting the health of the population, reported the Yucatan Health Secretariat (SSY).
In this regard, the director of Prevention and Health Protection of the SSY, Carlos Isaac Hernandez Fuentes, detailed the weekly schedule, which, in the Yucatan capital, will begin on Tuesday the 17th, covering the colonies Dolores Otero, Mercedes Barrera, Cinco Colonias, Zazil Há, San Jose Tecoh, Nueva San Jose Tecoh and Cinco Colonias, section II.
The state official specified that on Wednesday the 18th the activities will be carried out in the colonies and subdivisions of Alamos del Sur, Brisas de San Jose, Valle Dorado, San Antonio Xluch II, San Arturo Xluch, and Emiliano Zapata Sur.
Dengue is a tropical disease transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which lays its eggs in containers with stagnant water, such as buckets, tires, flower pots, and water tanks. The population is therefore advised to consider this factor because rainwater encourages the insect to lay its eggs in vases, flower pots, containers, and unusable objects in yards where mosquitoes capable of transmitting the disease breed.
