Health authorities begin the campaign against the papillomavirus; it will end on December 18

The health department highlighted that for the first time, immunization covers risk groups, such as fifth-grade girls, cisgender and transgender women and men.

Aiming to apply 1,132,634 vaccines, the National Vaccination Campaign against the human papillomavirus (HPV) 2024 began on September 4th and will be in effect until December 18th.

It is important to note that for the first time, immunization will cover risk groups, therefore, the Ministry of Health reported that the population that will be able to receive the biological product is the following:

Girls in the fifth grade of primary school and those who are behind in sixth grade will receive the single-dose vaccine. As well as those who are not in school.

Adolescent women from 12 to 16 years old who are behind in the application of the single dose of the HPV vaccine and without a vaccination history.

Cisgender and transgender women and men aged 11 to 49 living with HIV.

As well as women aged 9 to 19 in a protocol for rape.

The goal by December 18, the date on which the campaign ends, is to reach 95% national coverage.
