To strengthen ties with the People’s Republic of China and establish agreements beneficial to both governments, the Governor-elect of Yucatan, Joaquin Diaz Mena, met in Mexico City with the ambassador of that Asian nation, Zhang Run.
Diaz Mena expressed his confidence that the meeting would mark the beginning of a relationship that would germinate in excellent agreements for the development and well-being of both peoples, especially “to promote Yucatan as a strategically located place so that companies from the Asian continent can relocate here.”
The Governor-elect expressed to the ambassador and his team his conviction that it is feasible that, in Yucatan, companies already in Latin America, can count on manufacturing some parts of the products they make here before they are finished.
Huacho Díaz Mena highlighted his interest in bringing companies that have to do with information technology, computer systems, robotics, mechatronics, and other more cutting-edge technologies, “and we are going to promote everything that has to do with these technologies, precisely so that young people who are currently studying these related careers can have better-paid jobs in the coming years.”
Díaz Mena recalled that he recently also met with the ambassadors of France, Portugal, and Italy, to whom he presented the new investment opportunities that the Mayan Renaissance Plan would mean for our State.
In this sense, he explained to the ambassador that it involves the modernization of the Port of Progreso, the connection of the Mayan Train to the Port of Progreso and its upcoming cargo service; the launching of industrial parks that will have natural gas; and, especially, the interconnection with the Trans-Isthmus Train, which represents important logistical opportunities, mainly with the Asian markets that will open the doors to new investments.
In conclusion, Díaz Mena emphasized that he also spoke with Ambassador Zhang Run about the state’s tourism promotion; “Experience Tourism”, given that Yucatán has a great history and an important cultural and recreational offer, backed by the significance of its archaeological sites, the magic of its cenotes, the greatness of its culture and its internationally recognized gastronomic wealth, without in any way ruling out the beauty of its beaches.
