People march in Seyé against animal abuse and demand justice for “Cacahuate”

On Saturday, September 28, in the morning, a group gathered in front of the Seyé municipal palace to demand an end to animal abuse and justice for Cacahuate (peanut). This mixed-breed dog had to be sacrificed in recent days due to the injuries it sustained when a man attacked him.

“This should not stay like this. It is not the first time something like this has happened in the town. There have been many cases of animal abuse. This not only affects the animal, it affects the family a lot and we are angry,” commented Jennifer Monserrat, owner of the deceased animal.

It was on September 13 when images of the attack, without reason, that Cacahuate suffered were released when he encountered a man who was also walking along the sidewalk. They ran into each other head-on, and the man kicked him without further ado.

The little dog, almost 11 years old, was left lying on the sidewalk while the subject continued on his way without any remorse.

Days later, despite attempts to improve his condition, Cacahuate had to be put to sleep because he was unable to move.

“I appreciate that people are raising their voices, that they are not supporting because not everyone supports this fight,” commented the young woman.

The corresponding complaint has already been filed with the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE). Elsa Arceo, an activist in favor of animal defense, highlighted that in 2024 there have been a large number of cases of animal cruelty. She assured that there were more than 500 complaints before the FGE, but there is no progress in obtaining justice for these beings.

“We want prison, for all cases to be prosecuted and just as we have rights, sentient beings also have them; Today they are shouting: Justice for Cacahuate,” he indicated.
