On the morning of Thursday, September 12, the rising tide surprised the residents of the port, as the water exceeded the level of the seawall and covered several streets within the town.
This natural phenomenon that was recorded due to the proximity of the “Cold Fronts” season, although it does not cause alarm among the residents, did cause a bit of concern, as the inhabitants of Río Lagartos pointed out that this flood can damage boats.
So far, no material damage has been reported, only the flooded streets as seen in the photographs shared by users on their social networks.
It should be noted that in October of last year (2023) the same thing happened, so the residents of the port were surprised by a rising tide. However, on that occasion, the population of Río Lagartos related this phenomenon to the annular solar eclipse.
The riverside dwellers also attributed the rise in water levels to the moons that occurred in October, as they pointed out that since the satellite was closer to the earth, this would cause a flood.
And although it is normal for them that floods occur every year, they have been surprised that the water level exceeds the limits every year.
