Yucatecan athletes who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games were received at the Government Palace by the head of the Governor’s Office, María Fritz, who gave each of them recognition for their admirable effort in these international events and thanked them for raising and representing Yucatan in their respective disciplines.
She met with Gilda Cota Vera, the first Yucatecan medalist at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in the Women’s Shot Put F33 modality, accompanied by her coach, Juan Paredes Tufts, originally from Umán, and the national Parataekwondo team, originally from the entity, Jessica Berenice Quijano García.
Also present were the Merida natives and national Rhythmic Gymnastics team members, Adirem Tejeda Amaro and Julia Irene Gutiérrez Pereyra, who were part of the first Mexican Rhythmic Gymnastics team to qualify for the Olympic Games, after winning a silver medal in the All-around team event at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games.
Gilda Cota Vera said that the stages were majestic and imposing, but, she added, despite this, she did her best and thus managed to get on the podium to receive the silver medal.
