A large number of women will have the opportunity to participate in a parliament that will organize an agenda of proposed laws and reforms from various sectors of interest.

This process will be based on eight commissions that will develop four bill proposals, which will be signed by the senators who support the project, reported Yucatecan Emma Puerto Arciaga, National Coordinator of Gender Equality of the Global Network of Young Politicians Mexico (Red Mundial de Jóvenes Políticos México).

The women who participate in the parliament must raise problems that they want to solve through legislation, for which they will work on an agenda that will cover gender, and issues such as health, science and technology, education, environment and climate change, as well as culture and tourism, among others.

“The idea is that we can cover all the issues through eight commissions so four proposals for laws can come out for each commission, and on November 24th, all the initiatives will be presented to the Plenary in Congress,” explained Emma Puerto.

In this sense, if any federal legislator uses one of the proposals to draft a law, he or she must give the author the corresponding credit and invite her to participate in the discussions on it. This commitment aims to make women visible in politics and will be acquired during the parliamentary session.
