Golden opportunity for gastronomy
The busy season for businesses in the sector has begun.

The weekend of the national holidays marks the beginning of the busiest season for the restaurant industry in Yucatan, because after this event good sales are expected due to the celebrations of Janal Pixán, the Yucatan Xmatkuil fair in November, and the December season, with the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

The president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) in the State, Claudia González Góngora, said that the expectations for this long weekend are positive.

“Practically people will have several days to go out and enjoy the restaurants, statistics tell us that at least 6 out of 10 people go out to celebrate Independence Day in a restaurant, so we expect there to be greater dynamism and greater activity this weekend,” she said.

The business leader shared that the city’s restaurants are hopeful not only for the consumption of local people but also for visitors who will come from nearby states as well as foreign tourists. She highlighted that the restaurant industry has prepared itself with investments in supplies and more services to meet the demand.

She added that some businesses in the sector have even hired music and shows for tomorrow, which will generate a transversal economic spillover, not only for restaurateurs but also for other service providers who make up the value chain of the gastronomic industry in Yucatan.
