The storm could cause potentially fatal flooding in southern Mexico, said the CNH.
Trajectory of Tropical Storm ‘John’
According to the National Water Commission (Conagua), tropical storm ‘John’ will reach the south with winds between 63 and 119 km/h. In addition, it will maintain a displacement towards the northwest.
‘John’ could intensify its speed and continue its movement to the Oaxacan coast. In addition, it is forecast to make landfall between the limits of Oaxaca and Chiapas between the morning and afternoon of September 25. It will continue its path to the center of this last state, where it will begin to degrade.
Tropical storm ‘John’: Which state will it affect?
In addition to causing potentially deadly flooding in Chiapas and Oaxaca, the passage of the possible tropical storm will also cause torrential rains in the states of Veracruz and Tabasco.
The rains in Oaxaca and Chiapas could reach 500 and 600 millimeters, while in Guerrero, Tabasco, and Veracruz they could reach between 150 and 200 millimeters.
Authorities urge the population of the southern states to be attentive to the communications and alerts of the National Meteorological Service, as well as state and national authorities.
