Venezuelan Dictator Maduro Declares Christmas in October in a Delusional Attempt to Deflect Election Fraud Scandal.
As absurd as it may sound, dictator Nicolás Maduro continues to showcase his delusion by announcing an early start to Christmas.
As the country reels from the aftermath of a fraudulent election on July 28, Maduro declared that Christmas celebrations would begin on October 1. His televised announcement, “September is here, and I said: ‘September, and it already smells like Christmas,’” reeks of an attempt to distract the public from his blatant manipulation of the election. “In homage and gratitude to all of you, I will decree that Christmas begins on October 1. Christmas has arrived with peace, happiness, and security for everyone,” he proclaimed, desperately trying to deflect from the fact that he did not win the election.
What Triggered Nicolás Maduro to Make His Christmas Announcement?
Just hours before this announcement, Venezuelan authorities issued an arrest warrant for opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia. The charges against González Urrutia, who ran against Maduro in the election, include usurpation of functions, forgery of public documents, incitement to disobey laws, conspiracy, sabotage, and illegal association —accusations widely seen as politically motivated and reflective of the regime’s desperation to silence dissent.
González Urrutia, having refused to appear for three separate summonses from the Maduro-controlled Public Prosecutor’s Office, has denounced the charges as baseless. His involvement with the Democratic Unity Platform (PUD) led the opposition coalition to release evidence challenging the election results, claiming that they had collected 83.5 percent of the electoral records, proving that their candidate was the true winner — a fact the regime is eager to suppress.
Prosecutor Luis Ernesto Dueñez Reyes swiftly pushed for González Urrutia’s arrest, with a court specializing in terrorism-related crimes issuing the warrant. The opposition leader, however, has criticized the entire judicial process, arguing that the Public Prosecutor is functioning as a political tool for the dictatorship. “The Public Prosecutor intends to subject me to an interview without specifying the conditions, preemptively qualifying crimes that have not been committed,” González Urrutia said as reported by Infobae, condemning the persecution as a tactic of a regime that seeks to hold power through fear and intimidation.
The PUD coalition has also condemned the charges, denouncing them as part of a broader strategy to intensify political persecution. In a statement, they expressed their “resounding condemnation of the deepening political persecution” against González Urrutia. They highlighted the regime’s failure to produce any credible evidence supporting Maduro’s claimed victory, juxtaposed with the speed at which the regime issued an arrest warrant for the true winner. Their message calls for unity among Venezuelans and the international community to resist Maduro’s desperate attempts to cling to power.
This early Christmas decree is just the latest in Maduro’s string of delusional moves to distract a nation on the brink of collapse. By manipulating the calendar, the dictator hopes to divert attention from the reality that his fraudulent election tactics have only deepened the political crisis in Venezuela.
