Governor-elect Joaquín Díaz Mena presented the scope of the “Maya Renaissance” plan at the National Convention of the Nearshoring Industry.
The plan’s main objective is to promote the development of the region, aligning itself with global trends in nearshoring.
This concept of relocating supply chains closer to their destination market offers a key opportunity for Yucatán and other areas of Mexico, by taking advantage of its proximity to the United States and its growing infrastructure.
In addition, it seeks not only to generate jobs and attract foreign investment, but also to revitalize the cultural and ancestral identity of the region.
With a comprehensive vision, the plan focuses on promoting key sectors such as tourism, manufacturing, technology and agribusiness.
The initiative aims to capitalize on the region’s logistical advantages, its qualified labor force and its cultural wealth, transforming Yucatán into a hub of sustainable and competitive development in the global market.
It also contemplates collaboration with foreign companies interested in moving their operations to Mexico, due to trade tensions between the United States and China.
This presents a unique opportunity for the state of Yucatan to position itself as a strategic point for economic growth through development policies that integrate infrastructure modernization and the preservation of cultural heritage.
