Yucatecan athletes to represent Mexico in the Karate World Championship

The young Yucatecan athletes María Gabriela Guillén Obregón and Leonardo de la Torre Robledo will be in charge of representing Mexico in the Karate World Championship that will be held in Venice, Italy, from October 8 to 13, 2024.

The High-Performance Karate Association of Yucatán announced that the outstanding karatekas obtained their pass thanks to their unwavering commitment to the sport, dedicating countless hours of training and improvement to reach this level of competition.

De la Torre Robledo, following in the footsteps of her Sensei Lupita Quintal of the Seiza Dojo and future promise for the Anáhuac Mayab University, has recorded great achievements in national and international tournaments, is currently ranked number one nationally in the Junior under-61kg category, and is now preparing to face the best in the world.

Maria Gabriela, from the ShotoKan Francisco de Montejo Dojo, inspires other young black belt karatekas by showing incredible determination.

Currently, these two athletes are working hard on their physical and mental training, focused on perfecting each technique to bravely face the international challenge.

“Representing Mexico is the greatest pride one can feel,” they said excitedly when they saw their names on the list of those selected to leave for the World Championship next October.

The High-Performance Karate Association of Yucatan highlighted that just as the values ​​of karate teach, these athletes have decided to embark on an adventure that will change their lives forever.

Next October, they highlighted, that Mexico will be represented by these brave karatekas who will make us pride on the Tatami.
