César Augusto Sosa Hau, a soldier from Yucatán, was killed in Culiacán, Sinaloa, during an armed confrontation with criminals.
Sosa Hau, known in the military as “Chacaloso,” was originally from Tzalam, a community in Sudzal near Izamal.
During his morning conference on September 10, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed that the deceased agent worked as a sergeant within the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena).
The victim was César Augusto, a second infantry sergeant assigned to the 94th Infantry Battalion in Culiacán.
The 42-year-old soldier was reportedly injured in the face by a firearm during the day of violence that began in the La Campiña sector. Due to this injury, they took him to a hospital.
The death of the Yucatecan soldier occurred in the context of clashes between the group of “Los Mayitos”, followers of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, and “Los Chapitos”, led by the sons of drug trafficker Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.
